Shu Chen
PhD ChemEng, MBA, GAICD, MAusIMM
Shu is an experienced plant manager, senior metallurgist, and continuous improvement leader in minerals and metal sector. His industry experience spans across base metal mineral processing, copper smelting and electro-refinery, and steel plant. His specialty includes operational readiness and commissioning of green-field metallurgical plants, as well as operational excellence and continuous improvement of existing operations using lean-six sigma structured problem solving principles. Shu has previously held the positions of manager continuous improvement at Whyalla Steelworks, process superintendent at Woodlawn Concentrator, and senior metallurgist at BHP Olympic Dam integrated metallurgical plant.
Shu holds a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, a MBA at Imperial College Business School, and is a Graduate of AICD (Australian Institute of Company Directors). He is a member of AusIMM Adelaide Branch Committee, and a member of the MetPlant Conference Organizing Committee. He is influent in both English and Chinese, and has well-developed network of mineral processing and smelting specialists in both Australia and China.
